Securing engine to assembly stand
Securing engine to assembly stand
To carry out repairs, secure engine using engine and gearbox support -VW 540- and engine and gearbox support supplement -VW 540/1 B- to the support clamp -VW 313- of the assembly stand.
Procedure
–  Unbolt gearbox from engine.
Vehicles with automatic gearbox
–  After separating gearbox from engine, secure torque converter from “falling out”.
Continuation for all vehicles
   
–  Attach lifting tackle -2024 A- as follows and lift from engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- using workshop crane -V.A.G 1206- or workshop crane -VAS 6100-.
Pulley end: 3rd hole in hook at position 2
Flywheel end: 3rd hole in hook at position 8
  WARNING
Use securing pins on hooks and locking pins.
  Note
t  The positions marked 1..4 on the bar must be towards the pulley end.
t  The holes in the hooks are counted up from the hook.
–  Secure engine to support clamp -VW 313- using engine and gearbox support -VW 540- and engine and gearbox support supplement -VW 540/1 B-. Dowel sleeves must be removed.
