Checking compression → Chapter
   
  Note
t  If an exchange cylinder head with fitted camshaft is installed, the contact surfaces between the tappets and the running surfaces of the camshaft must be oiled before the cylinder head cover is installed.
t  The plastic packing pieces for protecting the open valves must not be removed until immediately before fitting cylinder head.
t  If the cylinder head is renewed, the entire coolant must also be renewed.
1 - Sealing cap
2 - Seal
3 - 10 Nm
4 - To intake hose
5 - Seal
q   Renew.
6 - Plug, 15 Nm
q   Renew.
7 - Cylinder head bolt
q   Renew.
q   Remove and install Polydrive cylinder head bolt using special wrench -T10070-.
q   Observe sequence when loosening and tightening → Chapter.
8 - Connection
q   Coolant hose schematic diagram → Chapter.
9 - 10 Nm
10 - Seal
q   Renew.
11 - 20 Nm
12 - Lifting eye
13 - Cylinder head gasket
q   Renew.
q   After renewing, renew entire coolant.
14 - 15 Nm
15 - 20 Nm
16 - Rear toothed belt guard
17 - Toothed belt
q   Before removing, mark direction of rotation.
q   Check for wear.
q   Do not kink.
q   Remove and install, tension → Chapter.
18 - Cylinder head
q   Check for distortion → Fig..
q   Rework sealing surface → Fig..
q   Remove and install → Chapter.
q   After renewing, renew entire coolant.
19 - Oil barrier
20 - Cylinder head cover gasket
q   Renew if damaged.
q   Before fitting, coat transitions between bearing cap and cylinder head with sealing compound -D 454 300 A2-.
21 - Cylinder head cover
q   With wiring guides.
