1 - From catalytic converter.
2 - Double clip
q   Note installation position → Fig..
3 - 25 Nm

q   Align → Fig..
6 - Cutting point
q   In case of repair.
q   Front silencer and rear silencer are fitted as one part as standard. In case of repair, front and rear silencers are supplied separately and with one repair double clip for connection.
q   Cut connecting pipe at cutting point at right angles using body saw, e.g. pneumatic sabre saw -V.A.G 1523A- → Fig..
7 - Mounting
8 - 20 Nm
9 - Rear silencer
10 - Mounting
q   With securing ring.
11 - Tunnel bridge
12 - 40 Nm

   
Installation location of double clip
–  Position double clip with approx. 5 mm clearance to mark A -arrow 1-.
  Note
Mark -A- applies to vehicles with manual or automatic gearbox.

Installation location of mounting.
–  Angle side at base of mounting -A- points in direction of travel.
  A26-0128
Cutting point on exhaust pipe.
–  Cut exhaust pipe at cutting point -arrow 2- at right angles.
–  Position repair double clip -4- at side markings -arrows 1 and 3- when installing. Torque setting: 40 Nm.

Aligning front silencer free of stress
–  Mounting bolts on front silencer must be parallel to tunnel bridge (dimension -x- is identical on left and right).
