6 - Separating point
q   Middle and rear silencers are installed as a single component during production. In cases of repair, the centre and rear silencer are supplied separately, with a double clamp for connecting.
q   Cut through connecting pipe with body saw e.g. body saw -V.A.G 1523A- at right angles at the separating point → Fig.
7 - Mounting
8 - Rear silencer
9 - 25 Nm
10 - Tunnel bridge
11 - 40 Nm

   
Installation position of double clamp
–  Position double clamp with approx. 5 mm clearance to the appropriate marking.
t  Marking A -arrow 1- for vehicles with automatic gearbox
t  Marking S -arrow 2- for vehicles with manual gearbox

Installation position of mounting
–  Angled side on mounting base -arrow- faces forwards.

Separating point on exhaust pipe
–  Separate exhaust pipe at right angles at separating point -arrow 2-.
–  Position repair double clamp -4- between side markings -arrows 1- and -arrow 3- when installing.
Torque setting: 40 Nm.

Aligning exhaust system free of stress
–  The mounting pins on middle silencer must run parallel with tunnel bridge (measurement -x- on left and right the same).
