t  Refractometer -T10007-
t  Drip tray -V.A.G 1306-
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
t  Spring-type clip pliers -VAS 5024A-

Removing
–  Remove front, left and right insulation trays: → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. Gr.50
–  Pull connectors off thermal switch and radiator fan.
–  Remove front bumper cover: → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. Gr.63
–  Bring lock carrier into service position → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. Gr.50.
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
–  Pull out retaining clip for upper coolant hose and remove coolant hose from quick-release coupling of radiator.
Additional information and removal instructions for vehicles with air conditioner
  WARNING
The air conditioner refrigerant circuit must not be opened.
  Note
To prevent damage to condenser and also to refrigerant lines/hoses, ensure that the lines and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent.
–  Remove retaining clamp(s) for refrigerant lines.
–  Unbolt condenser from radiator and secure to lock carrier.
Continuation for all vehicles
–  Remove radiator securing bolts and take radiator with fans out downwards.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing, note the following:
–  Fill with coolant → Chapter.
