Renewing engine control unit
Procedure
–  First print out control unit identification of current control unit → Chapter.
  Note
If display does not correspond to the control unit version installed in the vehicle, renew control unit. For latest part number for engine control unit → ETKA (Electronic Parts Catalogue).
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Remove windscreen wiper arms and plenum chamber cover → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.92
–  Release connector from control unit and pull off.
   
–  Press control unit to the right and pull out.
–  Insert new control unit and press to the left.
  Note
If a new engine control unit is installed, the throttle valve module -J338- must be cleaned before adapting → Chapter.
–  Adapt engine control unit → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051
–  Then read fault memory of new engine control unit and clear fault memory if necessary → Chapter.
–  Carry out test drive.
–  Read control unit fault memory again.
