Functional check and repair of the visual and acoustic oil pressure warning → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations and → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051
Test procedure

–  Remove oil pressure switch -F1- and screw it into tester.
–  Screw tester into oil filter bracket in place of oil pressure switch.
–  Connect brown wire of tester to earth (-).
–  Connect voltage tester -V.A.G 1527B- using auxiliary cables -V.A.G 1594 A- to battery positive (+) and oil pressure switch. LED must not light up.
–  Start engine and increase speed slowly.
Oil pressure switch, brown:
–  At 0.55…0.85 bar the LED must light up, otherwise renew oil pressure switch.
–  Increase engine speed further. At 2000 rpm and an oil temperature of 80 °C the oil pressure should be at least 2.0 bar.
At higher engine speed, oil pressure must not exceed 7.0 bar. Renew oil filter bracket, if necessary
Oil pressure switch, grey:
–  At 0.75…1.05 bar the LED must light up, otherwise renew oil pressure switch.
–  Increase engine speed further. At 2000 rpm and an oil temperature of 80 °C the oil pressure should be at least 2.0 bar.
