General notes on ignition system |
t
The engine control unit has a self-diagnosis capability.
t
For trouble-free operation of electrical components, a voltage of at least 11.5 V is necessary.
t
Certain tests may lead to a fault being detected by the control unit and stored. Therefore after completing all checks and repairs the fault memory must be read and if necessary cleared.
t
If, after fault finding, repairs or component tests, the engine starts, runs for a short period and then stops, then the fault may be that the immobilizer is blocking the engine control unit. In this case, the fault memory must be read and the control unit must be adapted if necessary.
