Checking radiator outlet coolant temperature senderG83
Checking radiator outlet coolant temperature sender -G83-
–  Pull 2-pin connector off radiator outlet coolant temperature sender -G83- and connect the sender to a multimeter using cables from auxiliary measuring set -V.A.G 1594A- or auxiliary measuring set -V.A.G 1594C-. Measure resistance.

Scale A shows resistance values for temperature range 0...50 °C and scale B the values for temperature range 50...100 °C.
Examples:
t  30 °C is in range A and corresponds to a resistance of 1.5...2.0 kΩ.
t  80 °C is in range B and corresponds to a resistance of 275...375 Ω.
If the specification is not obtained:
–  Renew radiator outlet coolant temperature sender -G83-.
If the specification is obtained:

–  Connect 121-pin adapter cable -V.A.G 1598/31- to control unit wiring harness. The engine control unit remains disconnected.
–  Check wiring between 121-pin adapter cable -V.A.G 1598/31- and 2-pin connector for open circuit referring to current flow diagram. Contact 1 and socket 25 (signal) of 121-pin adapter cable -V.A.G 1598/31-, contact 2 and socket 47 (earth) of 121-pin adapter cable -V.A.G 1598/31-, wire resistance: max. 1.5 Ω.
–  Additionally check wiring for short circuit to one another and short circuit to positive or earth.
