  Note
Before installation work is carried out, the engine is to be secured to engine and gearbox support -VAS 6095- or engine and gearbox support -VW 540- with the supplementary kit for engine and gearbox support -VW 540/1 B-.

  Note
t  Finding metal shavings or a large quantity of small metal particles during engine repair could indicate that the crankshaft bearings or conrod bearings are damaged. To prevent this from causing further damage, perform the following repairs:
t  Thoroughly clean oil channels.
t  Renew oil spray jets
t  Renew oil cooler
t  Renew oil filter
