Removing and installing fuel system diagnostic pump and activated charcoal filter
The fuel system diagnostic pump -V144- is installed in the rear right wheel housing. Its connecting lines are connected to activated charcoal filter solenoid valve 1 -N80- in the engine compartment and to the activated charcoal filter. The activated charcoal filter is installed from below on the vehicle underbody in the area of the spare wheel well.
Removing diagnostic pump
–  Raise vehicle.
–  Remove rear right wheel.
–  Remove rear right wheel housing liner → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66.
–  Unbolt cover plate → Item in front of tank filler neck.
–  Detach connector -1- from fuel system diagnostic pump -V144- and disconnect breather line -2- at connection.
   
–  Then clip breather line to activated charcoal filter solenoid valve 1 -N80--3- in wheel housing and unplug connection.
–  You can now unscrew securing nuts -4- and remove fuel system diagnostic pump -V144-.
Removing activated charcoal filter
–  Remove silencer → Chapter.
–  Then unscrew heat shield over rear silencer from floor panel.
–  Next unscrew right and left anti-roll bar bearings from underbody. → Running gear, axles, steering, front- and four-wheel drive; Rep. gr.42
–  Unscrew cover beneath activated charcoal filter.

–  Detach connector -1- from activated charcoal filter solenoid valve 2 -N115-.
–  Unscrew three studs -arrows- and remove activated charcoal filter from well.
Installing
–  Installation of activated charcoal filter is carried out in reverse order.
During installation, check that the breather lines are firmly connected and are not kinked.
