Note:

  • ◆ If the fault "Lambda control upper stop value" is recorded, this means that the lambda control has reached the "mixture enrichment" regulating limit. However, the lambda probe is still detecting a "lean" mixture.
  • ◆ If the fault "Lambda control lower stop value" is recorded, this means that the lambda control has reached the "mixture leaning down" regulating limit. However, the lambda probe is still detecting a "rich" mixture.

Ignition outputs 1 and 2 are the outputs on the engine control unit via which the engine control unit activates the output stage of the ignition coils.

- Wiring open circuit or short between (G22) and speedometer (G21)

- Short in the signal wire between speedometer and another control unit which uses this speed signal

- No air conditioner compressor switch-off in 1st gear at full throttle
- Idling speed briefly deviates from the specified speed
- Systems which use the speed signal not functioning correctly

Rectify wiring open circuit or short using current flow diagram

Note:

If fault code 00625 is recorded the engine control unit assumes a fixed substitute value of 5 km/h.

  • ◆ The positive power supply to the lambda probe heating comes via the fuel pump relay.
  • ◆ The earth connection for the lambda probe heating is provided by the engine control unit, i.e. the entire current supply for the lambda probe heating comes via the engine control unit.

Note on fault code 01126:

In this case the "engine speed signal" is not the signal from the engine speed sender (located on the crankshaft) to the engine control unit, but rather the signal from the engine control unit to the dash panel insert. This signal is also used for various other systems (e.g. rev counter, air conditioner etc.).

- Engine control unit signal output defective (engine control unit defective)

- Replace engine control unit .

Note on fault code 01259:

If the fault "01259" is stored the faults "00520, 00635, 01247 and 01249...01252 could also be stored as these components are supplied with voltage via the fuel pump relay.

Check electronic immobilizer:
=> Repair group 96; Servicing electronic immobilizer

Note to fault code 17978:

The control electronics for the immobilizer are located inside the dash panel insert and cannot be replaced separately.

If starting is attempted with an unauthorised key a permanent fault will be stored. After a subsequent start with an authorised key the fault will be converted to a sporadic fault.
