Removing
–  Remove wheel.
   
–  Separate connector -1-.
  N46-0263
–  Remove heat shield -1-.
–  To do this, press in tab -arrow A- using a screwdriver and, at the same time, slide heat shield -1- up in direction of arrow.
–  In vehicles with brake wear indicator, remove bolt -arrow B- to remove brake wear indicator bracket.

–  Remove upper hexagon nut for coupling rod.
–  Pull clip out from brake hose retainer and unhook brake hose.
–  Unhook speed sensor cable from suspension strut.
–  Remove brake carrier with brake caliper and suspend from body using wire → Brake systems; Rep. Gr.46.
Right suspension strut
If the right suspension strut is to be removed, additional work is required.
–  Remove noise insulation.
–  Unbolt drive shaft from gearbox flange shaft.
The continued procedure applies to both sides.

–  Remove bolt and nut securing wheel bearing housing/suspension strut.
  N40-0455
–  Insert spreader -3424- into slot -arrow-.
–  Turn ratchet handle through 90° and pull off -3424-.
–  Press against brake disc towards suspension strut by hand.
Otherwise, the shock absorber tube may cant in the wheel bearing housing bore.
–  Pull wheel bearing housing downwards off shock absorber tube.

Remove hexagon nut for upper shock absorber mounting.

–  Remove suspension strut.
