Wheel alignment must be checked if: > < Wheel alignment
General
General
Perform wheel alignment using VW/AUDI approved wheel alignment equipment only!
We recommend that both the front and rear axles are measured on all vehicle geometry measurements.
Otherwise, proper handling and road behaviour of the vehicle cannot be ensured!
  Note
t  Wheel alignment should not be checked before the vehicle has completed 1,000 to 2,000 km because the coil springs require time to settle.
t  When making adjustments, try to obtain the respective specifications as exactly as possible.
If the installation position of the rear axle (and therefore the direction of travel of the vehicle) is not taken into account then this can cause the steering wheel to be off-centre.

Steering wheel and steering column are marked.
This position must not be changed!
A - Line on steering wheel
B - Punch mark on steering column
Otherwise, the steering rack may not be centred!
Models with electronic stabilisation program
If the steering wheel is offset in these vehicles, the basic setting for the steering angle sender must be checked! ⇒ Perform basic setting in "guided fault finding" using VAS 5051 → .
Steering columns supplied as a spare part do not have a centre punch mark.
After the vehicle alignment and the subsequent test drive these steering columns must be marked.
