Removing components of seat occupied recognition (vehicles with manually operated seats)
Removing components of seat occupied recognition (vehicles with manually operated seats)
  WARNING
Observe safety precautions when working on seat occupied recognition → Chapter.
  Note
t  Seat padding, mat for seat occupied recognition, control unit and pressure sensor should only be renewed as one unit. The components are adapted to each other and should not be separated!
t  Only the wiring harnesses described as follows should be separated!
–  Attach seat repair stand -VAS 6136- to engine and gearbox support -VAS 6095-.
–  Remove front seat → Chapter.
–  Secure seat to seat repair stand -VAS 6136-.
–  Remove front belt buckle:
t  2-door model → Chapter.
t  4-door model → Chapter.
–  Remove right trim on seat:
t  Seat without through-load aperture → Chapter.
t  Seat with through-load aperture → Chapter.
–  Remove left trim on seat:
t  Seat without through-load aperture → Chapter.
t  Seat with through-load aperture → Chapter.
–  Remove bar and operating lever for front seat → Chapter.
–  Remove seat drawer mounting, if part of original equipment → Chapter.
–  Remove front seat backrest → Chapter.
–  Removing seat padding cover → Chapter.
   
–  Disconnect connector from seat occupied recognition control unit -J706-.
–  Unclip pressure sensor for seat occupied recognition -G452- from bracket.
–  Disconnect connector from pressure sensor for seat occupied recognition -G452-
–  Unclip pressure hose -2- from retainers.
–  Unscrew bolts -1- (1.5 Nm) and remove seat occupied recognition control unit -J706--3-.

   
–  Lift up seat padding -1-, making sure that seat padding is not separated from seat occupied recognition mat -4- in the process.
–  Remove clips -2- from seat frame -5-. Clip -3- must not be removed.
  WARNING
The seat padding, the seat occupied recognition mat, the pressure hose, the pressure sensor for seat occupied recognition -G452- and the seat occupied recognition control unit -J706- have been calibrated together and must not be exchanged with other components.
–  Remove seat padding together with seat occupied recognition mat from seat frame.
–  When doing this, feed pressure hose with pressure sensor for seat occupied recognition -G452- through opening in seat frame.
