Removing and installing (electric) seat lumbar support
Removing and installing (electric) seat lumbar support
Removal and installation of the lumbar support is described for the left backrest frame. Apply the same instructions for removal and installation of the lumbar support on the right backrest frame as appropriate.
  WARNING
Observe the general safety regulations when working on airbag, belt tensioner and battery isolator units (pyrotechnic components) → Chapter
–  Attach seat repair stand -VAS 6136- to engine and gearbox support -VAS 6095-.
–  Remove front seat → Chapter
–  Secure seat to seat repair stand -VAS 6136-.
–  Remove right side trim on seat → Chapter.
–  Remove left side trim on electrically adjustable seat → Chapter.
–  Remove front seat backrest → Chapter.
–  Secure backrest to seat repair stand -VAS 6136-.
–  Remove cover and backrest padding from front seat → Chapter
–  Remove front side-airbag → Chapter
   
–  Disconnect wiring harnesses from drive motors -1- and -2-.
–  Drill out rivet -3- on underside from rear.
–  Drill out the two rivets -4- on left side.
–  Drill out the two rivets -5- on right side.
–  Unhook lumbar support from mountings in backrest frame -arrows-.
–  Detach components of lumbar support from backrest frame.
