Brief description
Selector mechanism and selector lever cable are not allowed to be separated from one another. Both are removed together. In the engine compartment, it may be necessary to provide installation space. Often, it is necessary to remove air filter.
In addition, parts of exhaust system and heat shield must be removed.
In the interior, it may be necessary to remove centre console.
  Note
Following installation, cable must be checked for ease of movement and be adjusted.
Removing
–  Raise vehicle.
–  Remove parts of → exhaust system; Rep. gr.26.
–  Remove heat shield → Rep. gr.66.
–  Remove air filter → Rep. gr.24

–  Remove securing clips -A- and -B-. Securing clips must be renewed when cable is adjusted.
Loosen adjustment screw -arrow-.
–  Remove selector lever handle → Chapter.
–  Remove centre console → Rep. gr.68.
  N34-10404
–  Remove 4 bolts.
Torque setting 8 Nm.
  N34-11446
–  Remove selector mechanism.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
–  Before cable is fitted to selector shaft: check selector lever cable → Chapter.
–  Install heat shield → Rep. gr.66.
–  Install parts of → exhaust system; Rep. gr.26.
–  Adjust selector lever cable after installing → Chapter.
