Topping up oil in Haldex coupling Conditions l  Final drive must be installed. –  Replenish high-performance oil for Haldex coupling. Specification → Electronic parts catalogue „ETKA“ –  Raise vehicle. –  Use charging device -VAS 6291- to replenish. –  Set drip tray for workshop hoist -VAS 6208- underneath.   Note

t  Always lay a cloth on cross member -arrows-. t  If oil should land on the cross member or in the perforations in the cross member, carefully remove all oil.

–  Remove oil filler plug -arrow-. (For sake of clarity, shown with final drive removed.)

–  Separate adapter -A- and angled piece -B-. –  Screw adapter -A- in to stop. –  Engage elbow -B- in adapter -A-. –  Route hose above drive shaft. l  Hose must not sag. It must exit at rear of vehicle above left rear wheel. –  Lower vehicle.

–  Ensure that valve -arrow- is closed. –  Screw oil reservoir -A- onto charging device for Haldex coupling II -VAS 6291-. –  Open valve -arrow- and hold oil reservoir as shown in illustration. The Haldex coupling will now be filled. –  Raise vehicle after a few minutes.   Note t  If Haldex coupling has been properly filled, oil will have run out at adapter -A-.

t  If no oil has run out, lower vehicle and perform filling procedure again. –  Raise vehicle. –  If oil has run out, place oil reservoir under Haldex coupling (e.g. on workshop trolley). Excess oil will now flow back into oil reservoir.

–  When no more oil flows back, remove filler device -VAS 6291-. –  Then check oil level in Haldex coupling → Chapter –  Install bolt -arrow- with new seal and tighten to 15 Nm.
