Removing and installing cylinder head cover

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-

Removing

–	Remove engine cover.

To do this, pull engine cover upwards abruptly at front and right -arrows A- and then pull forwards out of rear fastening -arrow B-.

–	Remove upper toothed belt guard.

–	Disconnect crankcase breather hose at union on rear of charge air pipe.

–	Remove cylinder head cover.

Installing

Install in reverse order. When doing this, note the following:

Renew cylinder head cover gasket and bolts with seal if damaged.

–	Screw on cylinder head cover hand-tight in the sequence 1 to 11.

–	Tighten bolts to 10 Nm in the sequence 1 to 11.
