Installing > < Removing and installing valve timing housing
Removing
Removing
–  Remove air filter → Chapter.
–  Remove engine splash protection.
–  Remove front right wheel housing liner → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66.
–  Mark direction of rotation of poly V-belt and remove it → Chapter; Removing and installing poly V-belt.
–  Turn crankshaft in direction of engine rotation to TDC No. 1 cylinder → Chapter.
–  Remove coolant pump pulley → Chapter.
–  Remove air conditioner compressor from bracket with refrigerant lines still connected → Heating, air conditioning; Rep. gr.87.
–  Remove bracket for tensioning element and air conditioner compressor.
–  Remove alternator.
   
–  Install support device -10 - 222 A- with adapter -10 - 222 A /8- as shown and hook into lifting eye.

–  Take up weight of engine and remove securing bolts -arrows-.
–  Remove sump → Chapter.

–  Now remove pulley securing bolt. Hold belt pulley with counterhold -3415- and -3415/1-.

–  Remove Allen head bolts for timing housing and hexagon bolts indicated by -arrows-.
–  Remove valve timing housing.

Note that crankshaft bearing bush remains in sealing flange.
