Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Oil seal extractor -3203-
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1332-
t  Assembly sleeve -T10117/2-
t  Assembly tool -T10053-

Removing
–  Remove front right wheel housing liner → General body repairs; Rep. gr.66.
–  Remove poly V-belt.
Removing and installing (engine codes BLG, BMY) → Chapter.
Removing and installing (engine code BWK) → Chapter.
–  Removing and installing crankshaft pulley → Chapter.
   
–  Now remove pulley securing bolt. Hold pulley with counterhold -3415- and -3415/1-.
–  Remove centre bolt and remove crankshaft pulley.
–  Screw inner part of oil seal extractor -3203- three turns (approx. 5 mm) out of outer part and lock using knurled screw.

–  Lubricate threaded head of oil seal extractor, place it in position and, exerting firm pressure, screw it into oil seal as far as possible.
–  Loosen knurled screw and turn inner part against crankshaft until the oil seal is pulled out.
–  Remove bearing bush from crankshaft journal and clean contact surfaces of crankshaft chain sprocket and bearing bush.
Installing
  Note
t  From model year 2009, a diamond coated washer is installed. The washer prevent the crankshaft from being turned when the securing bolt is tightened.
t  Install a diamond coated washer -7- when a washer was not fitted as original equipment → Electronic parts catalogue„ETKA“.
t  The washer is fitted -7- between the bearing bush -5- and the crankshaft chain sprocket.
t  Note that all contact surfaces from the securing bolt to the crankshaft chain sprocket must be free of oil and grease.

–  Clean sealing surfaces carefully. They must be free of oil and grease.

3 - Diamond coated washer (clipped onto crankshaft belt pulley)
4 - Crankshaft oil seal
5 - Bearing bush
6 - O-ring
7 - Diamond coated washer
–  Push bearing bush onto crankshaft journal.

–  Fit sleeve -T10117/2- onto bush and slide oil seal onto bush.
–  Remove sleeve -T10117/2- from bush.

–  Using assembly tool -T10053-, drive in oil seal into valve timing housing as far as it will go with even blows of hammer.
Further assembly is basically the reverse of the dismantling sequence.
