Separating front and rear silencers

t	The exhaust pipe can be cut through at the point marked in order to renew the front or rear silencer separately.

t	The cutting point is marked by indentations on the periphery of the exhaust pipe.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Pneumatic sabre saw -V.A.G 1523 A-

t	Eye protection

WARNING

To avoid injury from metal shavings, wear eye protection and protective clothing.

–	Cut through exhaust pipe at right angles using e.g. body saw -V.A.G 1523 A- at separating point -arrow 2-.

–	When installing, position clamp -4- at side markings -arrow 1- and -arrow 3-.

–	Install clamp so that ends of bolts do not protrude beyond bottom of clamp.

l	Bolted connection faces rear.

–	Align cold exhaust system free of stress.
