Test prerequisites
l  Test prerequisites
l  Battery voltage at least 11.5 V
l  Fuse 27 in fuse holder on left under dash panel is OK.
l  Ignition switched off.
–  Remove cover from fuel delivery unit.
–  Switch on ignition. The fuel pump must run.

  N20-10205
–  Connect remote control for V.A.G 1348 -V.A.G 1348/3A- to contact -5- of fuel pump and battery positive (+) using adapter cables from auxiliary measuring set -V.A.G 1594C-.
–  Connect contact -1- on connector and contact -1- on fuel pump using adapter cables from auxiliary measuring set -V.A.G 1594C-.
–  Press remote control switch.
If fuel pump runs:
–  Check activation of fuel pump relay -J17- referring to current flow diagram → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
If fuel pump does not run:
–  Pull 5-pin connector off fuel delivery unit flange.
  N20-10480
–  Connect voltage tester -V.A.G 1527 B- to outer contacts of connector using auxiliary cables from auxiliary measuring set -V.A.G 1594 C-.
–  Operate remote control. LED must light up.
If LED does not light up:
–  Locate and eliminate open circuit referring to current flow diagram: → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
If LED lights up (voltage supply OK):
  N20-10045
–  Open locking ring using fuel tank sender wrench -3087-.
