Removing and installing exhaust manifold Removing

–  Remove heat shield for drive shaft on right side -arrows-.

–  Remove support -A-.

–  Unscrew securing nuts -arrows- for front exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold. –  Pull front exhaust pipe off exhaust manifold. –  Remove intake manifold → Chapter.

–  Remove electrical connector -arrow- for Lambda probe -G39- from retainer and separate. Move Lambda probe cables clear.   Note The Lambda probe -G39- need not be removed.

–  Unscrew securing bolts for heat shield -arrows- and remove heat shield.

–  Unscrew nuts from exhaust manifold -arrows- and remove exhaust manifold. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing, note the following: –  Renew seals, gaskets and self-locking nuts. –  Install intake manifold → Chapter. –  Install front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter → Chapter. –  Aligning exhaust system free of stress → Chapter. Specified torques:

Component		Nm
Exhaust manifold to cylinder head		25 → Note
Heat shield to exhaust manifold		10

1)  Renew self-locking nuts.
