  WARNING
The fuel supply line is under pressure! Wear eye protection and protective clothing to avoid possible injury and skin contact. Before loosening hose connections, wrap a cloth around the connection. Then release pressure by carefully pulling hose off connection.
l  The fuel pressure must be in order, checking → Chapter.
–  Remove lower part of intake manifold → Chapter.
–  Pull connectors off injectors.
   
–  Pull fuel rail with injectors off intake manifold and lay on a clean cloth.
Fuel line remains connected to fuel rail.
–  Remove seat bench (Golf Plus: rear right seat) → General body repairs, interior; Rep. Gr.72.

–  Remove cover from fuel pump unit.

–  First check that the connector -arrow- is fitted securely by pulling the connector without pressing the catch. The connector can cause a fault if it has not been fitted correctly.
–  Now pull off connector.
–  Check the contacts on the connector and on the fuel delivery unit for damage.

–  Connect test instrument adapter/DSO (5-pin) -VAS 5565- to connector and fuel pump unit.
–  Connect remote control for V.A.G 1348 -V.A.G 1348/3A- to test instrument adapter/DSO (5-pin) -VAS 5565- and to battery positive (+).
  Note
This step serves only to have the fuel pump running when the engine is not running.
–  Operate remove control -V.A.G 1348/3A- and check injectors for leaks (visual check). No more than 1 to 2 drops per minute must escape from each valve when fuel pump is running.
If the fuel loss is greater:
–  Renew leaking injector → Chapter.
  Note
t  After replacing components of injection system, erase learnt values in engine control unit → vehicle diagnosis tester “Guided fault finding”.
t  Always renew seals.
