  Note
t  All hose connections are secured.
t  Charge air system must be free of leaks.
t  Renew self-locking nuts.
t  Before installing the turbocharger, fill the oil supply channel (smaller diameter) with a »splash« of engine oil „to prevent a dry start up“.
t  After installing turbocharger, run engine for about 1 minute at idling speed to ensure that oil is supplied to turbocharger.
Assembly overview - turbocharger (Golf, Golf Plus, Passat)
   
1 - Exhaust gas recirculation pipe
q   With decoupling element; do not bend decoupling element - danger of cracking.
2 - Seal
q   Renew.
3 - Countersunk bolt with double nip
q   Renew.
q   17 Nm
4 - Connection
q   With oil supply and return line
q   Before installing oil supply line, ensure that it is not blocked.
5 - Seal
q   Renew.
6 - Nut
q   24 Nm
7 - Heat shield
8 - Turbocharger
q   Can only be renewed complete with exhaust manifold and vacuum unit.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.
9 - Retaining ring
q   Installation possible in one position only.
10 - O-ring
q   Renew.
11 - Pulsation damper
12 - Bolt
q   9 Nm
13 - Intake connecting pipe
14 - Bolt
q   9 Nm
q   Attached in inlet connection.
15 - O-ring
q   Renew.
16 - Bracket
q   For electrical cables.
17 - Bolt
q   15 Nm
18 - Heat shield
19 - Seal
q   Renew.
20 - Nut
q   Renew.

21 - Exhaust gas temperature sender 1 -G 235-
q   Removing and installing → Chapter

q   For turbocharger
q   Before installing oil supply line, ensure that it is not blocked.
q   Before installing, fill turbocharger with engine oil through oil supply line connection.
24 - Bolt
q   9 Nm
25 - O-rings
q   Various diameters.
q   Renew.
26 - Banjo bolt
q   60 Nm
q   Renew complete with O-rings.
27 - Oil seals
q   Renew.
28 - Banjo bolt
q   30 Nm
q   Renew complete with O-rings.
29 - O-rings
q   Renew.
30 - Nut
q   24 Nm

q   With grooves.

Installation position of exhaust gas temperature sender with angled cable guide
  Note
When installing the exhaust temperature sender with angled cable guide, adhere to dimension -a- of 3 … 5 mm from the turbocharger support threaded connection.
