Removing and installing swivel badge with reversing camera housing and swivel motor from rear lid
Removing and installing swivel badge with reversing camera housing and swivel motor from rear lid
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1783-
Removing:
–  Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.
Remove rear lid trim → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.70.

–  Release connectors -1- and -2- from brackets.
–  Release and disconnect connectors -1- and -2-.
–  Remove wire from wire retainer -3-.

–  Release and disconnect connector -2-.
–  Remove the three securing bolts -arrows- from swivel badge.
–  Turn swivel badge together with reversing camera and swivel motor -1- to right to stop and push inwards out of mounting in rear lid.
–  Pull drain hose out of hose nozzle on underside of swivel badge.
–  Remove swivel badge with reversing camera and swivel motor inwards out of rear lid.
Removing reversing camera with swivel motor from swivel badge → Chapter.
Installing:
Install in the reverse order of removal. When doing this, note the following:
  Caution
t  Danger of leakage
t  Twisted or not properly positioned seals may result in danger of water ingress into the luggage compartment.
t  Check that installed seals are in good condition and in proper installation position.

–  Check circumferential rubber seal -1- of swivel badge and ensure that it is completely inserted in groove.
–  Insert drain hose on hose nozzle on underside of swivel badge.
–  Fit swivel badge into rear lid.
–  Lock swivel badge by turning it to left into its mounting in rear lid.
–  Screw in the three securing nuts of swivel badge without tightening them.
–  Centre swivel badge on body aperture in rear lid and tighten the three securing nuts to 4 Nm.
–  Connect all connectors of reversing camera wiring harness and secure all wires and connectors with wire retainers to avoid rattling.
–  After installation, clean reversing camera lens with a lint-free cloth.
