Locate two 8 mm bolts on right side shock tower

-

Remove top bolt nut completely and loosen nut of the lower bolt

Attach new securing bracket, part number 191 129 648D, to the shock tower's 8 mm bolts

-

Tighten 8 mm nuts

-

Reinstall air intake tube

-

Close hood

Recall Campaign RW Install Preheating Tube Support Bracket

Dear Volkswagen Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Volkswagen has determined that a
defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1988 through 1991 model Volkswagen Jetta and Golf vehicles equipped with a Digifant
Engine Management System. Our records show that your car is one of the vehicles involved in this recall action.

Defect Description Affected vehicles may have been assembled without a bracket positioning a preheating tube located in the engine compartment. If the
preheating tube is not properly positioned, it can chafe against a metal brake line in the engine compartment. Prolonged chafing could, in time, cause
brake fluid leakage with diminished braking in one brake circuit. Failure of one brake circuit increases the vehicle's stopping distance and may result in
an accident.

Remedy Your authorized Volkswagen retailer will check and; where necessary, install a bracket which properly supports the preheating tube. If the brake
