Throttle Full Close Switch: Testing and Inspection

Full Throttle Switch Checking

RESISTANCE TEST

1.

With the ignition "OFF", disconnect the throttle switch connector and connect a suitable volt/ohm meter between the two terminals of the switch
plug. Set the volt/ohm meter to ohms.

2.

Close the throttle fully.

The measurement should be less than 0.5 ohms (continuity).

3.

Open the throttle (off idle).

The measurement should be infinite ohms (no continuity).

4.

Open the throttle to approx. 3/4 open.

The measurement should be infinite ohms (no continuity).

5.

Open the throttle fully.

^

The measurement should be less than 0.5 ohms (continuity).

6.

If the throttle switch is properly adjusted and the correct measurements are not obtained the throttle switch assembly is defective. Replace the
throttle switch assembly.

VOLTAGE SUPPLY TEST

7.

Turn the ignition switch "ON".

8.

With a suitable volt/ohm meter measure the voltage between the two terminals at the throttle switch harness connector.
