Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Air Flow Sensor

1.

With the ignition switch "OFF" remove the harness connector at the air flow sensor.

2.

Connect a suitable volt/ohm meter between terminal 3 and 4 of the air flow sensor plug and measure the resistance.

The correct measurement should be approx. 500 to 1000 ohms

3.

Disconnect the intake boot.

4.

Connect the volt/ohm meter between terminal 2 and 3 of the air flow sensor plug. Measure the resistance while moving the air flow sensor flap.

The resistance should change as the flap is moved.

NOTE: If the flap binds or sticks when moved, replace the air flow sensor.

If the correct measurements are not obtained, the air flow sensor is defective. Replace the air flow sensor.
