Clutch Cable: Service and Repair
Self Adjusting Clutch Cable
Removal
To tension the clutch adjustment mechanism for removal and installation, use the same retaining strap used to compress the adjustment mechanism of
the new cable.
Retaining Strap
1. Remove retaining strap from new cable by carefully cutting open the perforation.
NOTE: Avoid sharp bends in the clutch cable, as they may affect operation of the adjustment mechanism.
2. Depress the clutch pedal several times.

3. Attach the retaining strap so that the perforation (arrow 1) is above the protective boot.
4. Compress the adjustment mechanism in the area of the protective boot.
NOTE: If the adjustment mechanism cannot be compressed, then it is defective. The clutch cable will be destroyed in the process of being

5. Hook tabs of the retaining strap on two pins (arrow 2) of adjustment mechanism.
6. Disconnect the clutch cable attachment components from the release shaft lever.
7. Remove the over-center spring. See: Clutch Pedal Assembly
