remove old shield by grinding off old welds (see Fig. 1) (Do NOT use an air chisel or other impact type equipment)

completely grind off welds from the original shield at the converter outlet to avoid interference with the new shield
^
weld the entire front flange of the replacement shield to the inlet neck on the converter. The semicircular shape of the flange conforms exactly
to the inlet shape (see Figs 2 & 3)

weld the shield to the pipe at the outlet using the two vertical slots (70 mm from the rear of the shield) (see Fig. 3) A slight amount of
pressure may need to be applied to hold the shield in its proper location during welding
