EGR Temperature Sensor: Testing and Inspection
PRE-TEST REQUIREMENTS

Engine coolant temperature at least 80°C (176°F).
^
All electrical consumers (including A/C) switched OFF.
^
Radiator fan must not run while performing tests.
^
Vacuum connections tight and without leaks.
^
Vacuum hoses not pinched or plugged.

TEST PROCEDURE

Locate and disconnect EGR Temperature Sensor harness connector (# 7 in image).

Switch multimeter to 20 VDC range.
Connector 2-wire
-
Connect multimeter between terminals of sensor harness connector.

Turn ignition switch ON, voltage at connector should be:

Approximately 5 VDC.

IF NOT, check wiring and repair as necessary.

IF YES, turn ignition switch OFF continue with test
