Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench V.A.G 1332

Socket 24 mm V.A.G. 1332/11

Loosen lock nut - 3 -, when doing so counter hold at tie rod end - 2 -.

Remove open spring clip - 1 - from boot.

Set toe by twisting left and/or right tie rod.
To do this, position open-end wrench at hex of tie rod.
Be sure that boots are not twisted after turning tie rods!
Twisted boots wear out quickly.

Tighten lock nut with socket SW 24 V.A.G 1332/11 while counter holding tie rod end - 1 -.

Check toe value again.
After tightening lock nut, adjusted value may change slightly.
If measured toe nevertheless lies within tolerance, the adjustment is correct.

Install open spring clip on boot.
