Engine Control Module: Service and Repair
Engine Control Module
Engine Control Module (GTI, Eos)
NOTE: If it is necessary to replace the ECM, connect Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051B and perform the guided function
"Replace Engine Control Module (ECM)".
Removing
-
Switch off ignition.

Remove windshield wiper arms, plenum chamber cover and bulkhead plenum chamber.

Disengage forward harness connector - 1 - from the ECM and disconnect it.

Pry up locking mechanism - 2 - slightly.

Then slide ECM out of retainer - arrow -.

Now disengage rear harness connector from ECM and disconnect it.
Installing
-
Connect rear harness connector to ECM and engage it.
-
Slide ECM on to retaining plate.
-
Now connect front harness connector to ECM and engage it.
-
Install bulkhead plenum chamber, the plenum chamber cover and wiper arms.
