Transmission Speed Sensor: Testing and Inspection
Transmission Output Speed Sensor, Checking

Transmission Output Speed (RPM) Sensor G195 , Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

-

Hand multimeter V.A.G 1526 or Multimeter V.A.G 1715

-

Test adapter kit V.A.G 1594

-

Wiring diagram

Test conditions:

-

Respective fuses must be OK.

-

Battery voltage at least 11.5 V.

-

All electrical consumers (e.g. lights and rear window defroster) switched off.

-

Air conditioning system switched off.

-

Ground (GND) connection between engine and body OK.

-

Selector lever in "P".

-

Ignition switched off.

Work procedure:

-

Separate 8-pin connector - 1 -.

-

Check harness connector for contact corrosion and ingress of water.

If harness connector is not OK:

-

Repair problem.

-

Erase DTC memory for Transmission Control Module (TCM) J217. See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Testing and

If harness connector is OK:

Checking wiring:

Connect test box to transmission control module (TCM) J217 wiring harness. See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control
Systems/Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics/Test Box, Connecting For Wiring Test
