Clutch Pedal Position Sensor / Switch: Testing and Inspection
Signal From Clutch Position Sensor G476 , Checking
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hand multimeter V.A.G 1526 or Multimeter V.A.G 1715

Connector test set V.A.G 1594

Wiring diagram
Test conditions:
-
The respective fuse of Clutch Position Sensor G476 must be OK.
-
Battery voltage must be at least 11.5 Volts.
-
All electrical consumers (e.g. lights and rear window defroster) must be switched off.
-
The parking brake must be applied, otherwise daytime running lights are switched on.
-
If vehicle is equipped with an A/C system, it must be switched off.
-
The Ground (GND) connections between engine and body must be OK.
-
Ignition switched off.
Work procedure:

Remove engine cover.
-
Remove battery A and battery carrier.
-
Disconnect 5-pin connector - 4 - to Clutch Position Sensor G476.
-
Check wiring from terminal 5 to fuse SB 7 in engine compartment E-Box and fuse itself.

Connect test box to Diesel Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) Engine Control Module (ECM) J248 wiring harness. See: Powertrain

Wiring Test

Connect adapter cable V.A.G 1598/39-2 to test box V.A.G 1598/42.

Check wiring between test box and 5-pin connector for open circuit according to wiring diagram:
