Rabbit/Jetta/Pickup up to m.y. 1984
SUBJECT:

Modified steering wheel, Adapter sleeve, removing/installing
Beginning in August 1988, steering wheels with modified inner splines became available. The new wheel allows a more accurate adjustment due to an
increased number of splines.

The steering column remains unchanged except for the addition of a splined adapter sleeve pressed onto the splines of the steering shaft.

The new steering wheel can be installed in earlier vehicles by first installing the splined adapter sleeve (see page 2 for removing/ installing).
