Disconnect connector from pressure switch if necessary.

Install adapter- 1 -.
Use a sealing ring.
1 - V.A.G. 1402/1
2 - Hose from adapter set V.A.G. 1402/6

Connect pressure gauge V.A.G. 1402
A - Pressure switch,1.8 ltr. gasoline engines only
1 - Pressure gauge V.A.G. 1402
2 - Hose from adapter set V.A.G. 1402/6
3 - Banjo bolt
4 - Pressure hose banjo union
5 - V.A.G. 1402/2
6 - Hose from pressure gauge V.A.G. 1402

Remove hose clamp 3094 from intake and return hoses.

Re-connect intake and return hoses.

Start engine and if necessary add fluid to reservoir.

Turn steering wheel from lock to lock about 10 times.

Check delivery pressure.
Test requirements:
^
V-belt N-belt tension OK
^
System has no leaks
^
Hoses/lines not kinked or restricted

With engine running at idling speed. Close cut-off valve (not longer than 5 seconds) and read off pressure.
Specifications
Gasoline engines: 85...95 bar (1233 - 1378 psi)
Diesel engines: 96..0.105 bar (1392 - 1523 psi)
Note:

If the reading is higher or lower than specified replace pump:

If the fluid level in the reservoir is low, the steering system must be inspected for leaks.
