Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque wrench 5-50 Nm (VAG 1331)

‹› Crankshaft adapter (T03003)

‹› Locking pin (T40069)

Remove the cylinder head cover. Refer to --> [ Cylinder Head Cover ] See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Valve Cover/Service and Repair/Cylinder
Head Cover.

Perform the same work steps for crankshaft, locking. Refer to --> [ Crankshaft, Locking ] See: Crankshaft, Locking.

‹› If the threaded holes in the camshafts - arrows - do not point upward, the crankshaft must be rotated one rotation (360 degrees) in direction of

engine rotation.
