Amplifier: Service and Repair
Amplifier (Monsoon), Removing And Installing
CAUTION!
Before working on the electrical system:

Determine the correct coding for the anti-theft radio.

Switch the ignition off.

Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) strap.

After reconnecting battery, re-code and check operation of anti-theft radio. Also check operation of clock and power windows according
to Repair Manual and/or Owner's Manual.
Removal and installation of the Monsoon amplifier units in Golf models is described here. The amplifier unit in Jetta models is installed below the rear
parcel shelf on the right side.
With the exception of the installation location, removal and installation of the monsoon amplifier on Jetta models is essentially the same as described for
Golf.
Removing

Open left luggage compartment trim flap.

Disconnect electrical connections at amplifier.

Remove screws -arrows-.

Remove amplifier from bracket.
Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.

Ensure radio is coded accordingly for "Monsoon" system using On Board Diagnostic program: "Code control module", function 07.
NOTE: Radio sound system coding must be checked/performed in order to account for presence of CD changer (if installed), Monsoon system (where
applicable) and interior sound field differences between models.
