Check/Replace Air Bag ECM

Dear Volkswagen Dealer:

This circular contains special service instructions applicable to 1994/95 Model Golf III / Jetta III and 1995 Model Cabrio Vehicles 

Volkswagen has determined that the air bag warning light on the instrument panel may be activated or remain illuminated although the air bag restraint
system is fully operational. False activation of the warning light could be caused by a voltage drop due to a low battery charge or a sudden high voltage
draw, such as occurs during starting, triggering the light because of an overly sensitive ECM.

Remedial Service

Check and replace, where necessary, the air bag ECM.
