Fender Brace, Removing And Installing

NOTE:  Removing and installing is described only for the left fender brace. Removing and installing right fender brace is derived accordingly from this.

Removing

-

Fender is removed.

-

Remove screws - 2 - and remove fender brace - 1 -.

Installing

-

Assemble the fender brace - 1 -.

-

Tightening torque for bolts - 2 - : 6 Nm

Fender brace is fitted together with fender to hood and bumper cover body dimensions.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Guide rod (T10093)

‹› Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

‹› Torque wrench (V.A.G 1332)

Removing

-

Perform service position of lock carrier with attachments -  1 -. Refer to --> [ Lock Carrier Service Position ] See: Procedures/Lock Carrier,
Service Position.

Disconnect the electrical harness connectors.

2.0 Liter

-

Drain coolant and disconnect coolant lines.

2.5 Liter

-

Drain coolant and disconnect coolant lines.

-

Disconnect lines for condenser.

-

With the aid a second technician, unscrew guide rod (T10093) on longitudinal member on left and right sides and lift out lock carrier - 1 -.

CAUTION!
If lines for A/C system and/or for coolant are disconnected, the engine must not be started.
