Engine Control Module: Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

DTC Memory Of Engine Control Module (ECM), Checking And Erasing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051

Connect Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 as follows:

-

Connect diagnostic cable connector - 2 - to Data Link Connector (DLC) in drivers footwell.

Start engine and let it run at idle.

Only if engine does not start:

-

Switch ignition on.

Select operating mode:

-

Press "Vehicle Self-Diagnosis" selection on display.

Select vehicle system:

-

Press "01 - Engine Electronics" on display.

The control module identification with coding - 2 - as well as Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in center area and identification of anti-theft
immobilizer appear on the display.

NOTE:  When needed, a print-out can be generated. Press the "Print" button.
