Check wires between test box and 4-pin connector for open circuit according to wiring diagram.

Wiring resistance: max. 1.5 Ohms

Continued for all vehicles

Check wires for short circuit to each other, to B+ and Ground (GND).
Specification: Infinite Ohms

Check wire between 4-pin connector terminal 1 and Fuel Pump (FP) Relay J17 for open circuit according to wiring diagram.

Wiring resistance: max. 1.5 Ohms

Erase DTC memory for Motronic engine control module (ECM) J220.  See: Testing and Inspection/Scan Tool Testing and Procedures/With
Generic Scan Tool/Diagnostic Mode 4: Reset/Erase Diagnostic Data

If no malfunction is detected in wiring:

Replace Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) J220

Oxygen Sensor After Catalytic Converter, Checking

Oxygen Sensor after Catalytic Converter, Checking

‹› Vehicle must be raised to gain access to the Oxygen Sensor (O2S) Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G130). 

‹› When servicing terminals in the electrical harness connector of the Oxygen Sensor (O2S) Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G130),

use only gold-plated terminals.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Multimeter.

‹› Wiring diagram.

Test requirements

‹› Fuse (SB45) OK.

‹›  The Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) (J220) fuses OK.

‹› Battery voltage at least 12.5 volts.

‹› All electrical consumers such as, lights and rear window defroster, switched off.

‹› A/C switched off.

‹› Ground (GND) connections between engine/transmission/chassis OK.
