‹› Torque wrench 40-200 Nm (VAG 1332)
‹› Engine and transmission jack (VAG 1383A)
‹› Angle wrench (VAG 1756)
‹› Spreader (3424)
Removing
-
Loosen the drive axle to wheel hub bolt, refer to one of the following:

Axle Hex Bolt, Loosening and Tightening.
‹› If equipped with a 12 point bolt, refer to --> [ Drive Axle 12 Point Bolt, Loosening and Tightening ] See: Wheel Hub/Axle Nut/Service and
Repair/Drive Axle 12 Point Bolt, Loosening and Tightening.
‹› When doing this, the vehicle must not rest on its wheels, otherwise the wheel bearing may be damaged.

Remove the wheel.

Remove the brake caliper and secure to the vehicle using wire.

Remove the wheel speed sensor.

Remove the brake disc.
-
Remove the cover plate bolts and cover plate from the wheel bearing housing.

Loosen the tie rod to wheel bearing housing nut, but do not remove yet.
To protect the threads, leave the nut on the stud a few turns.

Press the tie rod end out of the wheel bearing housing using the (3287 A) and remove the nut.
