Engine Control Module, without Anti-Theft Protection

‹› If it is desired to replace the Engine Control Module (ECM), connect the (VAS 5051) and perform the guided function " Replace control module".

Removing

-

Switch off the ignition.

-

Remove the wiper arms and plenum chamber cover.

-

Remove the plenum chamber bulkhead.

-

Disengage the forward electrical connector - 1 - from the ECM and disconnect it.

-

Pry up the locking mechanism - 2 - slightly.

-

Then slide the ECM out of the retainer - arrow -. 

-

Now disengage the rear electrical connector from the ECM and disconnect it.

Installing

-

Connect the rear electrical connector to the ECM and engage it. 

-

Slide the ECM onto the retaining plate.

-

Now connect the forward electrical connector to the ECM and engage it.

-

Install the plenum chamber bulkhead.

-

Install the wiper arms and plenum chamber cover.
