Select the connection point of the test clamps using the sliding switch.

1. Direct connection to battery.
2. Connection to external test points in engine compartment.

Check if the cold cranking output indicated on the battery matches the selected value on the battery tester.

Press the start button.
The green LED lights up. The test program runs automatically. The test results are output through the printer, See: Battery Load Test With Battery
Tester With Printer VAS 5097A. If the device does not start (no LED comes on, no print-out), battery must be charged.

Switch off the device.

Remove the test clamps.

NOTE:

-

The test is over after approximately 20 seconds.

The results of the test are output through the printer.

-

Perform the test only one time. Repeating the test will not produce accurate results.

The tester takes about 30 min. to cool down in order to be ready for the next measurement.

CAUTION:

Risk of injury. Observe warning notes and safety precautions.

Batteries that have a colorless or light yellow visual indicator must not be tested or charged. Jump starting must not be used

-

There is a risk of explosion during testing, charging or jump starting.

-

These batteries must be replaced.

-

In order to prevent damage to the battery or vehicle, observe battery type descriptions and notes.

Visual indicator general information:

Green is no longer used to indicate the charge level on original equipment batteries beginning with index "5K0" and replacement batteries 191 915 105
AC beginning with index "000 915 105 DX" The introduction of the new color display will be a running change, this means there will be a transition
period for both displays. In the future the only colors will be black, no color at all or bright yellow.

The visual indicator provides information on the battery electrolyte level.

The battery charge cannot be check with the visual indicator. Use the load test instead. See: Battery Load Test With Battery Tester With Printer VAS
