Remove the starter upward and out of vehicle.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

Tighten all fasteners to specified values. Refer to --> [ Starter Tightening Specifications ] See: Specifications.

Starter, 2.0L TDI and DSG Transmission

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1332)

‹› Spring-type clip pliers (VAS 5024)

CAUTION!
When disconnecting and connecting battery, the procedure must be followed as described in the Repair information. Refer to --> [

Removing

Disconnect the battery. Refer to --> [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] See: Battery/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

Pull off engine cover upward - arrows -.
