Vehicle level sender on vehicles with dynamic headlight range control - general notes |
Vehicles with gas discharge lights feature dynamic headlight range control as standard. |
The automatic headlight range control requires information about front and rear axle suspension travel in order to function correctly. |
For this purpose, the position of the left suspension link in relation to the body is transferred to the front left vehicle level sender -G78- via a coupling rod. The sender transmits the electrical signals to the control unit for headlight range control. |
On the rear axle, these signals are transmitted by the rear left vehicle level sender -G76- to the control unit. |
These signals are required to determine the inclination of the vehicle. |
The dynamic headlight range control reacts automatically to changes in the vehicle level. |
The attitude of the vehicle can vary in the following situations: |
t
| Towing a trailer/caravan |
t
| Different loads (vehicle unladen, partly laden or fully laden) |
t
| Driving slowly or very fast |
Caution |
The headlight basic setting must always be checked whenever: |
t
| Retaining clip for coupling rod on track control link has been released. |
t
| The lower suspension link was removed and installed or renewed. |
t
| Work was performed on the rear left vehicle level sender -G76-. |
t
| the vehicle level sender was renewed. |
